In this consultation, I’ll begin by assessing your cardiovascular fitness level. Then, I'll recommend the best exercise options for your age, health, and fitness level. Our discussion will include choosing the most beneficial activities, achieving the optimum intensity level, and planning how often to do cardiovascular exercise each week. You’ll do several kinds of exercises, so come ready to sweat! I’ll show you various methods of monitoring your intensity level for burning fat and strengthening your heart muscle. Plus, I’ll address the benefits of interval training and cross training.

Postural Assessment and Correction

This hands-on consultation begins with an assessment of your posture. I’ll help you identify postural problems which may be leading to pain, fatigue, and illness. I'll educate you on what a neutral spine is, and how to achieve it. With your active feedback, we’ll identify which of your muscles need to be strengthened or stretched for optimum posture. Then, I’ll lead you through a series of exercises to correct these muscle imbalances. I'll encourage you to be mindful of holding yourself in correct posture through a variety of daily activities. In addition, I’ll also provide a lesson on the proper technique to use when lifting objects so that you avoid back injury.

Meal Planning for Nutrition and Weight Loss

With this in-depth consultation, I’ll help you gain the tools to plan your own menu for the best nutrition and weight loss. We’ll discuss the options from each food group so that you can build nutritionally-balanced meals. I’ll empower you to make smart decisions about the types of protein, carbohydrates, and fats that you eat. I’ll also make sure you know the single most important nutrient you need, and how to make sure you get enough of it. We’ll also discuss how to know appropriate portion sizes and read food labels. Together, we’ll explore your emotional reasons for over-eating as well as other triggers that may tempt you to abandon your diet plan.

Body Composition Testing and
Lowering Your Risk for Chronic Diseases

In this important session, I’ll measure your body-fat percentage and body mass index (BMI). Then, I’ll help you determine your ideal weight and the amount of body fat you may need to lose. We’ll discuss the long-term lifestyle, diet, and exercise strategies you need to achieve optimal wellness and lower your risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, and other chronic diseases. Together, we’ll brainstorm about ways you can set attainable weight-loss goals and make healthy lifestyle decisions when faced with challenging situations and bad influences.

Weight-Training Plan Design

In this session, I'll work with you to design a weight-training plan to help you build muscle mass and bone density. I'll assess your fitness level, then show you exercises that are appropriate for you. I'll draft a weekly plan for you to do on your own. The plan will include exercises you can do at your home or a gym. I'll teach you how to use a wide variety of gym equipment like dumbbells, barbells, cable machines, and body-weight exercises. This is an interactive learning session, so come prepared to workout!

Improving Your Flexibility

In this in-depth session, I’ll evaluate your flexibility, then lead you through a stretching routine to address your tight muscles and joints. We’ll do traditional stretches with both active and passive techniques. I’ll also show you how to use a foam roller to release tight muscles and fascia (connective tissue). I’ll teach you how to relax, breathe, and let go of tight muscles. We’ll also do a calming yoga workout suited to your ability level. I’ll leave you with a list of stretches so you can continue your flexibility program on your own.

Designing Perfect Workplace Ergonomics

As I always tell my clients, sitting is the root of all evil. Most fitness challenges that my clients face emanate from prolonged sitting and poor posture. So, this important session includes a thorough education of proper ergonomics for your workstation. My goal is to help you reduce fatigue and muscle tension, while increasing productivity at your job. I’ll show you how to define proper posture, then I’ll make suggestions on designing a work environment suited to your individual needs. We’ll discuss ergonomics for seated and standing desks. I’ll also show you simple stretches you can do from your workstation periodically throughout your day.
